Colombia Tech Week is August 10-16, 2026 in Bogotá. Over 20,000 founders, investors, and tech leaders. The biggest gathering of the Colombian tech ecosystem this year. And I never went. Not because I didn't know it existed — but because for a long time I felt that type of event was for companies at more advanced stages than mine, or for those actively seeking investment, or for those with a brand consolidated enough that being there was worth it. This year I changed my mind. And I want to share why.
Why I Didn't Go Before
There's an internal conversation many founders have when they see a big ecosystem event: 'Is it worth going?' And to answer it well, you have to be honest about what stage the company is at and what it's looking for. During ProjectApp's early years, the honest answer was: 'I have more impact in those hours working than attending an event.' That wasn't false modesty — it was prioritization. But there's a point where that logic reverses. When the company already has operations, success cases, and a clear direction, visibility within the ecosystem stops being a luxury and starts being a tool.
